NFT : Binance signs an exclusive partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo
Binance, the world’s largest digital currency trading platform in terms of trading volumes, signed a partnership, today, with the global footballer Cristiano Ronaldo to promote NFT.
Long-lasting Partnership
As part of the agreement that will last for several years, the Portuguese football star and Binance will launch a series of non-fungible tokens NFT) for sale on their platform, adding that the first group will be released later this year.
On this occasion, the chief executive of Binance, Changpeng Zhao, commented about Cristiano : ” He has amassed one of the world’s most dedicated fan bases through his authenticity, talent and charity work.”
Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his excitement regarding this new partnership “My relationship with the fans is very important to me, so the idea of bringing unprecedented experiences and access through this NFT platform is something that I wanted to be a part of.”
A partnership not the first of its kind
Cryptocurrency platforms rely on sports partnerships in an effort to become the mainstream. Last year, Crypto.com signed a $700 million deal to rename The Staples Center in Los Angeles as Crypto.com Arena, while FTX Trading Ltd sold a stake to National Football League quarterback Tom Brady.
Other sports stars like Neymar and Serena Williams have already shown their appetite for the NFT by announcing their membership in the “Bored Ape Yacht Club”, a closed club of NFT holders linked to unique images of monkeys and sold for up to 200,000 dollars per unit. Serena Williams has already linked her name to that of the NFT by joining as “advisor” and investor the French start-up Sorare, which has created an online game to exchange thumbnails of football players based on this technology.
